What's new - Values Education 2005 and Beyond
Welcome to the first of four What's new online newsletters for 2005. The first newsletter outlines some of the values education initiatives that are unfolding during this year and over the next four years.
Values Education Program in Australian schools
The Australian Government is providing $29.7 million for a number of values education initiatives to be implemented over the next four years through the Values Education Program. These include values forums in every school, clusters of schools implementing good practice approaches, the development of a Values Education website and curriculum resources for all schools and national activities, including an annual national forum and projects with parents, principals, teachers and teacher educators.
The Values Education website will keep you informed of the latest initiatives and support schools by providing gateways to:
- current news and information from State and Territories and sectors on values education;
- professional learning resources for teachers that will help schools in implementing, engaging in and strengthening values education;
- short articles from a range of experts about values education issues;
- articles by schools about particular issues, projects and programs related to values education; and
- media links to items of interest and articles about values education developments and debates in Australia and internationally.
