Values Education Workshops

During 2009 a series of workshops will be provided throughout Queensland to support schools to explore and familiarise themselves with the new resources for values education developed by Curriculum Corporation for the Australian Government. It is suggested that schools send a team, for example:

  • Principals/Deputy Principals/teachers
  • Pastoral care/behaviour management staff
  • Curriculum Coordinators

This team could then take a leadership role for values education work at their school.

Values Education Leadership Breakfasts

There will be four Values Education Leadership Breakfasts throughout the state during 2009  – one per term. The Breakfasts will feature Dr Ron Tooth, Principal of Pullenvale Environmental Education Centre, who will address the topic: Learning for Sustainability: A Whole School Approach to Values Education.

Due to the emphasis on a whole-school approach to values education, the Breakfasts are particularly recommended for current and aspiring school leaders.

The Breakfasts are free for government schools, but will cost $25 per head for non-government school attendees.

Values Education EXPO 23 November 2009

The Values Education EXPO will be for all educators who have an interest in values education. There will be a keynote address followed by a showcase of:

  • a selection of innovative and exciting values education projects that have been implemented in Queensland schools during 2009
  • a wide variety of resources available for teachers to access to strengthen their work in values education.
