Ed. Website: www.dete.sa.gov.au Tutorial Centres are a joint Department of Education Training and Employment/ DHS initiative for students in the metropolitan area. These centres are situated in various locations within pre-existing youth services eg 'Shopfront'. Tutors work with students in an informal environment, including flexible hours, on improving literacy and numeracy while developing links back into a more formal school environment. Target group: Young people with chronic offending and non-attendance patterns known to DHS and Department of Education Training and Employment services. OCBA does not have any specific initiatives to address these recommendations however there are a range of packages which can be incorporated in bigger strategies. Eg, OCBA maintains a range of financial, renting and purchasing advice specifically aimed at younger people who are trying to make their respective ways in late teens or early adulthood. OCBA is also a regular contributor to school curriculum work on consumer-related issues by providing materials and presentations. OCBA can provide supporting information to teachers who want to equip students with basic personal survival and life skills in the areas mentioned above as well as provide presentations to groups of students and has regularly done so in the school environment. The aim of the meeting is to attempt to use a restorative model to implement 'care and correction' principles, as outlined in the Young Offenders Act, for the young person to not re-offend. Each outcome is specifically tailored to the young person and victim's circumstances.
