Initiatives targeting Recommendation 19VictoriaManaged Individual Pathways Youth provided with individual pathways plans related to their education and job aspirations and follow up interventions for those considered at risk after they leave their provider institution. Schools required to establish links with the Local Learning and Employment Network and other outside providers. Target group: Young people 15 - 19 years (mainly year 10 - 12 students) Coverage: State wide in government schools, TAFE and ACE sectors Timeframe: 2001- 2003 Responsible Agency: Department of Education and Training Website: www.det.vic.gov.au Local Learning and Employment Networks Recommendation 19 meshes very closely with the purposes for which LLENs were established. The future co-operative model developed for local communities working with government will include the Commonwealth Enterprise and Career Education Foundation (ECEF) Target group: Young people 15 to 19 years Coverage: Metropolitan, rural and regional communities across Victoria Timeframe: 2001-04 Responsible Agency: Department of Education and Training Website: www.det.vic.gov.au Pilot Bail Support Services Program This program aims to enhance the likelihood of a defendant being granted bail and successfully completing the bail period by providing appropriate accommodation, supervision and access to treatment programs as required. Target group: Young people aged 17-30 years seeking bail on criminal charges where there is a high likelihood of being remanded in custody Coverage: South Eastern metropolitan Melbourne Timeframe: A one-year pilot from July 2001 to June 2002 Responsible Agency: Office of the Correctional Services Commissioner, Department of Justice Website: www.dhs.vic.gov.au Bridging the Gap This initiative aims to assist exiting prisoners by providing transitional support for high risk and high needs younger prisoners with significant substance abuse issues. Target group: Young people aged 17-30 years exiting prison with identified reintegration needs. Coverage: Metropolitan Melbourne. Timeframe: This two year pilot program commenced in April 2001 Responsible Agency: Office of the Correctional Services Commissioner, Department of Justice Website: www.justice.vic.gov.au Enhancing Specialist Behaviour Services - Adolescent Initiative This initiative aims to develop a comprehensive service model of prevention and treatment for adolescents with a disability who have been identified as 'at risk" of displaying offending behaviour or have established patterns of offending behaviour. Target group: Adolescents with a disability who are at risk of displaying offending behaviours or have established patterns of offending behaviour Coverage: All nine Disability Services Regional Offices around Victoria have received funds to implement and pilot a range of models Timeframe: Ongoing Responsible Agency: Department of Human Services, Disability Services Division Youth Services Program This program aims to improve the well-being and social health status of young people through the provision of integrated, co-ordinated and relevant local prevention and early intervention services. Target group: Young people aged 10-25 years with a focus on 12-18 years of age, who display one or more risk factors Coverage: State wide Timeframe: 1998 - 2001 extended until July 2002 Responsible Agency: Community agencies and local government authorities throughout Victoria Website: www.dhs.vic.gov.au |
