Australia's participation in the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), conducted every three years by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) (a sample of 15-year-old students).
Australia's participation in the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS), conducted every four years by the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA) (a sample of students in Years 4 and 8).
NAP assessments of all students in Literacy and Numeracy conducted annually by States and Territories and equated to the national Literacy and numeracy benchmarks:
From 2008 national tests will be held in literacy and numeracy for all students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9, replacing current State and Territory based assessments. Information on the tests can be found here.
