The council is supported by a number of Advisory and Support Structures convened as needed for particular tasks. These groups have prescribed timeframes and reporting arrangements and are reviewed annually. In addition, every three years at least, the council reviews the overall structure of these structures which comprise taskforces, committees and working groups. The outcomes of the review process are made available to COAG and COAG senior officials if requested. The last such review occurred in 2004–05, with ministers setting the priorities for the 2006–08 period at their 20 May 2005 meeting. The advisory and support structure was also adjusted to reflect these priorities.
