A prominent US publication on the value of arts-rich education, Champions of Change (Fiske, 1999) found that students with high levels of arts participation outperform students with low levels of arts participation in nearly every measure.  Fiske’s report also noted that students involved in instrumental music perform better in mathematics than those who do not.
