School reform: COAG Communiqué

The Council of Australian Governments (COAG) meeting on 19 April has discussed the Australian Government's proposals for school funding without reaching agreement on key issues. Victorian Government and AEU leaders reach in-principle agreement on pay

The Victorian Government and Australian Education Union have reached an in-principle agreement covering principals, teachers and education support staff in Victorian government schools, following an industrial campaign in support of pay rises. Draft Australian Curriculum: Technologies F–10 released

ACARA is conducting consultation on the draft Australian Curriculum: Technologies Foundation to Year 10. This includes consultation on Design and Technologies and Digital Technologies. The consultation closes on 10 May 2013. ACARA welcomes and encourages feedback on these draft curriculum materials.

Queensland Government plan to improve teacher quality

The Queensland Government's recently announced plan to improve teacher quality, Great Teachers = Great Results, has received widepread attention in the media. See, for example, video from the Brisbane Times 9 April and article in The Courier-Mail 11 April 2013.
