Special report
Earlier this week, the New Media Consortium released the 2010 Horizon Report: K–12 Edition, the second in an annual series of reports focused on emerging technology use in primary and secondary education. The six technologies featured are cloud computing, collaborative online environments, game-based learning, the use of mobiles for networked learning, augmented reality, and flexible display technology. Each technology is placed along three adoption horizons that indicate likely time frames for their entrance into mainstream use for teaching, learning or creative applications in the K–12 environment. The report is intended for use by educators worldwide.
