ArticlesImproving the educational experiences of Aboriginal childrenThis week Curriculum Leadership presents a summary of the latest volume in the Western Australian Aboriginal Child Health Survey, which investigates the quality of schooling for Indigenous children in the State. It provides confronting evidence that the benefits of education remain poorly realised by the vast majority of Western Australian Aboriginal children. While there is a need to acknowledge individual commitment and localised success, the survey findings provide evidence of the need for change and a description of the challenges facing governments, educators, Aboriginal Australians and Australian society in providing educational opportunities for Aboriginal children and youth.
