ArticlesThe South Australian Early Years Literacy ProgramDuring terms one and two 2005, five thousand preschool to Year Three educators and leaders across South Australia met to plan The Early Years Literacy Program, a three-year focus on literacy for young children. Evaluation of the Program has already commenced, and includes data collected during the initial core professional learning days. Analysis of the data collected is informing ongoing development. In this edition, the Early Years Literacy Team outlines the program for Curriculum Leadership.

This series of professional learning resources for teachers will be trialled in 40 schools across the country in term three this year. A cross-section of schools will be involved, including coeducational and single sex boys' schools; schools in rural, remote and metropolitan areas; and primary, middle and secondary schools. Applications for 800 grants to participate in the programme in 2006 will open shortly.
