In 2009 a new South Australian Certificate of Education will be introduced into the State’s Government, Catholic and Independent schools with senior secondary enrolments. Known as the future SACE, the Certificate will cover students in Years 10, 11 and 12. School-to-Work Innovation: Literacy is one of four innovation projects connected to the future SACE. The project targets some young people in Year 10 who are likely to have difficulty with the complex literacy demands of senior secondary schooling. University educators are working on the project with 32 teachers from 11 schools covering the Government, Catholic and Independent sectors. The project aims to produce materials to assist literacy instruction for use by schools across the State.
