In 2009 Curriculum Corporation undertook a scoping project for Melbourne Water, to review and develop the existing Waterwatch materials into an integrated program kit.
Waterwatch is a river health education program that supports the community, including schools, in being actively involved in monitoring and protecting the health of rivers and creeks.
The Scoping Stage (Stage 1) explored and clarified the requirements for a second, development and implementation stage (Stage 2). A critical element of the Scoping Stage was consulting with and gathering ideas from the key stakeholders in the program - in particular the Waterwatch Co-ordinators.
Curriculum Corporation is now managing Stage 2 of the project, which will result in the development of a series of resources to support the Waterwatch, including revising existing activities to incorporate them into "units of work", developing new units and scope and sequence charts, providing advice about further activities and producing contextual information for the website.
