Curriculum Corporation worked with the National Australia Day Council to develop an Australian anthology on Australia and being Australian for senior secondary school students: True Blue? On Being Australian. The diversity of the collection lends itself to a broad range of topics and issues such as:
- The Aboriginal experience;
- Representations of the Australian bush;
- Cultural diversity;
- Race relations;
- Belonging;
- Identity;
- Australian icons and symbols;
- Telling stories;
- Change;
- Prejudice;
- Stereotypes;
- The Australian war experience;
- Australia and Sport; and
- Gender in sport.
True Blue? On Being Australian was jointly published with Allen & Unwin and was made available for public sale through general book sellers. The book has been well-received by the Australian teaching community and has had positive reviews by Australian Geographic, the Daily Telegraph and the Sydney Morning Herald.
Curriculum Corporation also developed teaching and learning activities which scaffold the materials within True Blue? as well as providing directions for further investigation. These teaching materials draw upon the senior English curriculums in each State and Territory, providing current and relevant activities for use by students or in classroom scenarios. Learn more...
