In 2007/08, Curriculum Corporation was contracted by the Melbourne Cricket Club to develop curriculum resources to underpin the new National Sports Museum's education program.
An important rationale for the project was to demonstrate clearly how Australian notions of achievement, pursuit of excellence, fair play and values in sport can be mapped across the curricula, supporting school tours of the MCG and National Sports Museum (NSM).
Through the development of the teaching and learning materials, the project supported teachers in using the MCG and the NSM, instilling students with an understanding of the history and heritage value of the MCG and Australia's sporting achievements. The resources promote the NSM, focus on the importance of its sporting and cultural history, and assist to ensure students grow up with an enhanced appreciation of Australia's unique sporting culture and achievements.
