Victoria is home to people from more than 200 nations, speaking more than 200 languages and dialects and following more than 120 faiths.
The Victorian Multicultural Commission (VMC) supports this diversity by fostering harmony, and encouraging the full participation of Victoria's ethnic communities in the social, economic and cultural life of its communities; it is the main link between Victoria's culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities and the Government. The Commission has developed the Community Harmony Education Campaign to promote multiculturalism in Victoria and to highlight and engender pride and understanding of cultural diversity. The centrepiece of the 2008-2009 campaign are the rich images of the All of Us project, an innovative project which set out to create a photographic representation of people from Victoria's many cultures.
In 2008, VMC contracted Curriculum Corporation to research and scope a new education resource for Victorian schools, the result, the All of Us Educational Resource Kit will highlight the importance of multicultural education in Victorian schools. The kit will comprise a range of engaging and resources including a teacher resource book, a DVD and a professional learning program that will support the teacher professional learning, whole school uptake and classroom activity. The kit will bring together the vivid imagery of the All of Us project and a wide range of teaching and learning ideas to enrich and stimulate Victorian classrooms.
The All of Us Education Resource Kit will be launched in June 2009.
