Scholarships for career advisers
In April 2004, the Australian Government announced 54 scholarships for career advisers in schools to undertake study or industry placements in 2005.
Funding has been made available annually in the subsequent four years to build on the 2005 round of scholarships. The scholarships support professional development for career advisers by providing them with opportunities to gain skills, knowledge and experience through scholarships for further study or industry placements.
In June 2009 the scholarships for career advisers project was extended, with scholarships on offer for Study or Industry Placements in 2010.
Curriculum Corporation continues to manage the Scholarships for Career Advisers Project for the Australian Government Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR), as it has done since the project's inception in 2004.
Scholarships are available to those who are currently employed by an Australian school or college and are working as, or have worked within the past 24 months as, a Career Teachers/Adviser. Applications are also open to those who have worked at an Australian University or TAFE as a career adviser for a minimum of six months, within the last 24 months. Queries about eligibility can be emailed to careerscholarships@curriculum.edu.au .
The scholarships take the form of either a short-term industry placement to further skills or knowledge of workplaces, industry sectors and/or occupations, or study at postgraduate level to upgrade qualifications as a Career Adviser.
Information and guidelines are available from the DEEWR website.
