Success For Boys
Curriculum Corporation was the National Coordinator for the Success for Boys Programme, spanning 2005-2008. Curriculum Corporation's role as National Coordinator was to administer the Success for Boys Programme and grants across all Australian States and Territories via a competitive selection process.
The Success for Boys Professional Learning Programme was a $19.4 million Australian Government initiative that aimed to help schools nationally improve boys' learning outcomes and engagement by providing teachers with access to high quality professional learning.
The Success for Boys material was developed by Curriculum Corporation, in conjunction with James Cook University, for the Australian Government in 2005.
About Success for Boys
Over 2006-2007, Curriculum Corporation led a total of 1601 schools through their year of funding and Programme delivery. These schools have used their grants to deliver the Success for Boys Professional Learning Programme and to implement activities and projects that will help embed the professional learning in their curriculum.
The Success for Boys Programme has provided Australian schools with valuable opportunities to better equip teachers with a framework for managing all students, with particular attention paid to the needs of boys. Teachers continue to gain the professional development required to reflect on their student cohort and implement a research-based programme tailored to maximise learning opportunities in Australian schools.
Professional Learning Programme
The programme consists of 5 modules that focus on key intervention areas highlighted by teachers and researchers as significant for boys' success in schooling.
These modules include:
* Core Module
* Boys and Literacy Module
* Mentoring for Success Module
* Boys and ICT Module
* Indigenous Boys Module
Boys' Education Lighthouse Schools (BELS)
