australianscreen online provides free access to clips from a diverse collection of more than 1,300 feature films, documentaries, newsreels, short films, animations, television shows, Indigenous programs and home movies produced in Australia over the past 100 years.

The site is produced by the National Film and Sound Archive in partnership with Curriculum Corporation through The Le@rning Federation. Close to 1,000 clips have been selected for their specific educational value, and are collected in an easy-to-use education page with associated teachers' notes.

Recognition

International recogntion for australianscreen online has come from both the UK and the USA.

It was shortlisted in the General Audience Education – Web Delivery category for the Learning on Screen Awards 2009, hosted by the British Universities Film and Video Council. The category recognises material that is valuable for learning, formally and informally, on a range of online platforms.

Then in October 2009 australianscreen online received a Silver Award in The W3 Awards of the International Academy of Visual Arts. Receiving nearly 3,000 entries from across the world, The W3 Awards honour outstanding websites, web marketing, and web video created by some of the best interactive agencies, designers, and creators worldwide.

Domestic recognition has included:

  • Finalist, 2008 EnhanceTV ATOM Awards, Best multimedia learning resource
  • Finalist, 14th annual Australian Interactive Media Industry Association awards, Best learning and education.
