Using Information

Undertake one of the following activities.

1. Produce a flyer or postcard demonstrating how you would have wanted to depict Federation in 1901 if you were:

• promoting the formation of the Commonwealth

                                            or

• organising a celebration celebrating Federation.

2. In what way/s is your representation different from, or similar to, the official versions? Use a Venn diagram to show the differences and similarities. Can you account for these differences?

Remember, your depiction should be historical (the Sydney Harbour Bridge did not exist in 1901!), in keeping with the technology, the social sensibilities and the understandings of the time.
