Activity 3d: Equal Pay for Women Matrix

Using the categories of injustice, action and outcomes students complete a matrix to analyse the cause and effect relationships of the Equal Pay for Equal Work campaign.

Resources Required

Students suggest keywords to describe each column, using the following as prompts:

Injustice 

  • Identify unfair practices that the women wanted to change.

Action

  • Include examples of the strategies used by campaigners, for example: demonstration, protest.

Outcomes

  • Identify how women’s role in the workforce has changed such as: ‘no more division of work into men’s jobs and women’s jobs’; ‘it is now illegal to discriminate against women in employment and advertising’.
